Our History

Established as a company specializing in the production of subtitles and audio descriptions, we are characterized by our commitment to both “Providing services while preserving the value of the work” and “Design approach that values user input”.

We create subtitles and audio descriptions for about 100 productions a year, including movies, stage performances, and video streaming. We hold more than 120 times a year monitoring meetings with service users and creators and continuously listening to feedback from thousands of people.

1960

Established Daiichi Shorin Co., Ltd.

2005

Became a subsidiary of Pole to Win, Inc. As a member of the group of Pole to Win Holdings Corporation (TSE Prime listing: 3657), the company had been involved in the publishing and media business.

2013

The company name was changed from Dai-Ichi Shorin Co., Ltd. to Palabra Co., Ltd. It specializes in the production of subtitles and audio descriptions.

2014

Officially launched "UDCast" as a barrier-free service focusing on video contents.

2016

Released the "UDCast" application.

As we listened to user’s voices daily, we realized that just producing our contents was not enough to reach the target who needed it, so the company released a viewing tool that provides subtitles and audio descriptions for theatrical films. Today, Today, we handle everything from development to distribution in-house.

The "UDCast Support Center" has been operating alongside the app since its launch. It has received not only questions about how to use the app and requests for the works the customers want to watch but also numerous inquiries about inquiries about ticket purchases, access, information support for stage greetings, etc.

2021

Renewing UDCast from a viewing tool to a "platform"

Recognizing the need for comprehensive "viewing support" beyond just providing content, we transformed "UDCast" from a viewing tool into a "platform" and expand barrier-free consulting services as a business.

Additionally, the "UDCast Support Center" was also selected as a project by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in 2022 "Consultation Service for Supporting Appreciation of Culture and Arts".

In recent years, our efforts have extended beyond barrier-free access to include multilingual subtitles and subtitles tailored for seniors, further broadening our scope.
